Blog Challenge Day 13

This week.

Are you ready? It's a long one...

Sunday Feb 6

Worked too long and had too many cultures. Got to work at 6:40 AM and didn't get off until 6:10 PM. DVR'd the Superbowl thank goodness. Thought of Nicole's birthday all day 'cause I wrote it down on my culture cards a million times. When we got home we made bruschetta and potato skins for dinner and started watching the Superbowl after it ended. Favorite commercials -- The Chevy truck "Timmy's in trouble" and the Doritos bring everything back to life including Grandpa.

Monday Feb 7

Had a bad night. Woke up with a sore, dry throat in the middle of the night and just stayed bad all night. Couldn't hardly blow my nose in the morning because the soft palate was so inflamed and swollen. Could hardly pull myself through the day. Talked to Nicole on the phone and talked about her brithday and more. Knitted a bit and watched TV a lot. Napped a bit, but at dinner Mom told me I looked like I was dead on my feet. I called in sick for work on Tuesday, which I have only done two other times in 5 years.

Tuesday Feb 8

Mom got up at 6:45 AM to take Ariel to the vet's She had an appointment to get a root canal on a tooth that was cracked. We hoped they could save her tooth 'cause it was her big back molar and they did. So now she has a filling. I went back to sleep with Toby who was distraught that Ariel was gone. He was less whiny after Mom got back, but has been moping around the house all day. My throat was still sore and I slept until 10, which hopefully gets me over this quicker. Lots of tea and knitting today...I am back up to where I had to tear back my sock to because I am sticking to my motto of "I don't knit crap."

Wednesday Feb 9

First day back to work. Was so very tired and managed to work my whole day away and still get off on time. Got home in time to watch a whole episode of Ellen and currently I am watching James Blunt sing his new song, which is really good...I love guys with English accents. Working on a dinner menu for the next two weeks and getting a grocery list together so we can run errands while the dogs are at the spa tomorrow and then not have to go anywhere from Friday night until Tuesday morning. I love nesting down at home for a long weekend and leaving the world behind. Going to do some homework and of course....knit!

Thursday Feb 10

Could not get going this morning! Late, late, late. Dogs went to work with us because Mom takes them down to the groomer's at her morning break. They always enjoy riding in the car and I think they look forward to spa day. It was Keirsten and Carrie's Thursday of Fun at work. That's the day all the adults are off and they leave the kids in charge. Being the two youngest micro techs in the department means the professionalism drops a bit. So it was 107.3 on the radio and lots of craziness. Even the students notice. One of our students from last year is hiring on and she came through just to check in and said "Is it Fun Thursday?!!" Thank goodness my current student was there 'cause I was really tired and she pulled us through the bench really well! I love it when I have students who get it. Mom and I ran around grocery stores, Costco and PetSmart after work to get all those supplies we need every two weeks. Went and picked up the dogs as 7 PM and drove thru Burger Ranch to pick up dinner. Ate, put groceries away and went to bed.....soooooo very tired.

Friday Feb 11

Went to work thinking it was going to be another Day of Fun 'cause it was just me and Keirsten and Matt. But it was Keirsten's day to be really tired. Her daughter had an ear infection and had kept her up most of the night. We still managed to have an awesome day. Printed off my paycheck stub and it was looking pretty sweet from all the overtime and extra weekend days I worked. I was thinking of buying some yarn for the Christmas presents Mom and I are starting on for the family with the extra dough. Came home and looked into if my seed order had shipped (nope, not yet) and bought some music. I am still using the money from my iTunes gift cards from Christmas, which I love...free music is the best. I really wanted that new song "Jar of Hearts" and wanted to get the whole Bruno Mars CD. I also picked up some new P!nk, Train and the brand new Lady Gaga song "Born This Way" (which is AWESOME!)...and then the phone rang. It was my credit card company saying my payment was 6 days past due. What?! I ran to my mail holder and found the paper (out of the envelope) down in the front of the slot. S**T. So I go online to pay it and the payment due has basically doubled. There goes all that money I just made. Hours and hours of my life wasted for a late bill. And they could potentially raise my APR to 29%. We'll see where it goes, but I totally broke down crying and depressed. Mom and I talked about how we both are so far in debt and really REALLY need to get ourselves under control. I am thinking about going to one of those consolidation places and closing my two biggest credit cards. I don't know. We made dinner after that...bruschetta and spaghetti with browned butter and myzithra cheese. Bruschetta is making an appearance no fewer than 4 times on our two week menu...obsessed! Watched TV and knit after that. I am to the point where I need to start knitting the heel flap on my sock and am a little scared about it. Dez called and we moved our day out to another weekend, she has a concert to go to and I am still so very tired from my cold. We think getting together for a game night would be cool, so I think I'll get us and Keirsten together and we'll pound out a good night to do it. I love game nights!

Saturday Feb 12

Slept 11 hours last night. Yes! Feels so good. Got to eat a big breakfast, yummy eggs, bacon and hash-browns with blueberry muffins. Mom and I discussed what we wanted to do today and I had wanted to get the dried herbs we had hanging in the pantry from last fall into jars. So we sat down at the table and I put in a DVD of Doctor Who and we stripped all the herbs from the stems and got them into labeled jars. Then I also wanted to put carrot seeds on tissue paper with water soluble glue so that it would be easier in the spring to plant them a nice distance apart and not have to thin so many. It was a hint that someone had given us at the Master Gardener seminars last spring. After we finished with that we went out around the yard and looked at what we want to accomplish this summer. Adding to our garden, making a composting area, getting a new wood shed put in, cutting down excessive cherry trees, planting another pear tree that'll cross-pollinate our D'Anjou pear tree, putting in a rock garden next to the pergola, getting new raspberry bushes, planting more shade plants along the north side of the house...you know just a few things. :) We also got into the Tuff shed and pulled out the seed starting systems and found two bags of germinating mix and half a big bag of transplant mix. Woohoo! Something I don't have to purchase! Now I am sitting down thinking about knitting and throwing out my blog post and getting ready to start another week.
