It took me a while but...

I finished the summer cowl for a Christmas/Birthday present for the best hairdresser in the world!  And I got around to writing it up in a post!  I had knitted a presents for lots of other people this Christmas, but I never got around to one for Arlyne.  Then she told me her birthday was in February and I decided to knit something up then.  It took me longer than I had planned, but last week it made it to her and she loved it!  I chose the Pink Grapefruit Cowl from Knitted Bliss and I doubled the cast on to make the longer version.  The yarn ended up being Tanis Fiber Arts Blue Label Fingering in Peacock.  Super nice yarn to work with and actually a quick knit, it's not the yarn or pattern's fault that the knitter is averse to making up a project at the end.  All the sewing, weaving in of ends and bathing seem daunting.  The pattern was pretty interesting with a bunch of dropped stitches, a technique I had never done before.  It was kind of nerve-wracking taking apart your knitting at the end!  So here in a photo documentary is the evolution of a small knitted neck warmer to a beautiful draping cowl.
All done!  Now to rip it apart.  :/
 It quadrupled in size...
...and looks like it was knitted out of ramen noodles!
 Time for a Euclan bath!
Hang dry so those yarns are all straight again!
I think she liked it :)
