The Garden is Planted!

On Monday we planted all the seedlings I had started way back in February. It's like sending your kids to school on the first day, I was worried about them out there in the weather. Luckily the weather was nice for planting, mostly cloudy and drizzly, nothing to stress them out too much on their first day. Today however when we got home I saw a robin out eyeing my tasty plants and have heard that they can decimate a crop of lettuce in no time. I'll need to go down to the hardware store and pick up some prism tape to deter them from shopping for food in my garden. In the mean time Mom thought we could take some of the tape we used last year on the cherry trees to put around. When she got out to the trees she could see that everyone of our cherries had been frozen. They were all shriveled up like raisins. It was slightly devastating because I was eager to pick cherries again and make dozens of jars of jelly. We do have quite a few bags of frozen cherries from last year, but still it's not the same. That's cherries though, only a good crop every now and then. Now all there is left to do it wait and fertilize and pray that all the vegetable plants grow well to produce us some wonderful food.
